Terry Dougherty

Chairman of the Board of Directors

Terry has served on the Indiana Center board since 2010 when he assumed the responsibilities of Treasurer of the corporation. He has served as Chairman since 2016.

Terry is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer who served in Afghanistan from 1972 to 1975. He remains active in Afghan development by serving on the Board of Directors for SOLA - School of Leadership Afghanistan and as the Chief Operating Officer of Friends of Afghanistan, a Peace Corps Alumni Association. Terry is still fluent in Dari thanks to his work with Afghan refugees in Fort Wayne. He has hosted five Afghan exchange students and coordinated the Afghan Youth Exchange and Study YES program in Indiana from 2004-2010.

Terry retired from IPFW in 2014 ending a 38-year career in Information Technology that began with IBM in 1976. Terry and his wife Margie are members of Plymouth UCC in Fort Wayne. They have 4 married children, including their informally adopted son Andrew Dougherty who is a naturalized US citizen who came to Ft. Wayne in 2000 as an 18-year-old refugee from Afghanistan. Their 4 children have blessed them with 10 grandchildren.
