We Are the Earth: Environmental Justice, A Moral Imperative

Indiana Center for Middle East Peace is delighted to offer a day of inspiration and education as we celebrate Earth Day. With two exceptional advocates for environmental justice as our keynote speakers, six local environmental organizations offering workshops, and free snacks, we guarantee this will be a great day!

Keynote Speakers are:

Malik Yakini - Cofounder and Executive Director of the Detroit Black Community Food Security Network, which operates a seven-acre urban farm and spearheads the Detroit People's Food Co-Op, a cooperative grocery in Detroit's North End; cofounder of the National Black Food and Justice Alliance; long-time partner of the Sustainable Food Systems Initiative.

Rev. Dr. Liz Theoharis - Co-Chair of the Poor People's Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival; Director of the Kairos Center for Religions, Rights, and Social Justice, at Union Theological Seminary NYC, where she also teaches. She's also the editor of We Cry Justice: Reading the Bible with the Poor People's Campaign (2021) and the author of Always with Us? What Jesus Really Said About the Poor (2017).

Workshops will be offered by: Little River Wetlands Project (Eagle Marsh), Midwest Building Decarbonization Coalition, Poor People's Campaign - NE Indiana Chapter, Sierra Club, and Midwest Building Decarbonization Coalition and Faith in Place (formerly Hoosier Interfaith Power and Light).
