Dr. Allan Boesak was President of the World Alliance of Reformed Churches, which under his leadership, adopted the “Apartheid Is a Heresy” declaration. Along with Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Dr. Boesak was a leader in ending apartheid in South Africa. He remains deeply involved in global struggles for human rights, and social, economic, ecological, gender, and sexual justice. Dr. Boesak’s most recent book is Radical Reconciliation: Beyond Political Pietism and Christian Quietism. He received the Andrew Murray/Desmond Tutu Prize, South Africa’s highest award for religion, the Robert Kennedy Human Rights Award and the Martin Luther King Jr. Peace Award. He is also the recipient of 12 honorary degrees, including from Yale University & University of Geneva.
